Council member Reinhardt Lynch said he had surveyed places available to rent for parties in Washington, D.C., and they included many fancy houses and government-owned buildings with antiques “next door to beautiful residential areas.” He said the town needs to find another source of income besides the meals and lodging tax, but a change in the alcohol policy should also include an increase in the rent.
Mayor Stewart Willis said heshared some of Ms. Bruce’s concerns about maintenance. “It would be awkward to open it up and not have it cleaned. If we consider alcohol we should consider restraints on the hours it could be served.”
Council member Peter Skowronski said he would like to have more input from citizens.
