The council members discussed what to do to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the town’s incorporation, Dec. 14, 1996. They considered erecting signs at the entrances t$ town, having a celebration similar tg> Colonial Christmas and holding several events. No decisions were made.
Ms. van Dort was delegated to make lists of areas in the town needing sidewalks or sidewalk repairs and correction of storm water problems to givetoVDOT.
Mr. Gooch reported the Future Committee would meet with the owners of The Inn, churches, and professionals before preparing a final report.
He said bed and breakfast owners had suggested more attention to attracting tourists, speeding and sidewalks were concerns.
Mr. Tompkins suggested the committee also meet with ordinary residents.
