Open Invitation For the 35th consecutive year, Mr. William Carrigan extends a cordial invitation to the people and friends of Rappahannock County to spend the evening of July Fourth on the grounds of Avon Hall. Families and groups are encouraged to bring picnic suppers and spread out their blankets and enjoy the variety of activities from the vantage point on Courthouse Hill: To commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence, beginning at 6 p.m. there will be a program of games, entertainment and music, followed by fireworks by the lake in front of Avon Hall. The fireworks are provided by the Town of Washington, and the fireworks show will be produced by Hubert S. Gilkey and friends.
