and last Wednesday the Supreme Court overruled the Fourth Circuit Court 7-1.
Paul Butler said there had been no real problems with the women from VWIL who attended VMI for some military training. “At first it was- difficult,” he said. “But then everybody got along fine. They were forming their own Corps of Cadets.” He said the girls in that program said they would not want to attend VMI.
It will be the fall of 1997 before VMI will be ready to enroll women. Paul’s brother Jason will start attending VMI in the fall of 1996. He said he is glad that, at least for his class, the “rat line” tradition will stay the same. He said he does not believe any girls from Rappahannock will be interested in attending VMI.
