merit hazards. Mrs. Biggs, Mrs. Hahn and Ron Makela, the School Board member from Jackson District, explained that head custodian Wilson Atkins would be retiring in the fall. They said they hoped to replace him with someone who would be responsible for maintenance and environmental issues. They said they also wanted to see if having custodians at the school during the day and contracting out after school cleaning could save money because the people doing the work would not be getting
the retirement and health insuranc^ benefits of school system employees.
The supervisors also had in hand another letter from Superintendent David Gangel noting his concern that not covering the environmental area could lead to a repeat of the incident when work on the elementary school roof led to several children being taken to local hospitals complaining of symptoms caused by fumes from the work.
