In the President General’s message read by Mrs. Carolyn B. Butler, Mrs. Kemper spoke of the delight in having visited chapters in thirteen states this past year and thanked all chapters for their work done during the year. She reminded members of the exhibit “Bound for the West” to be opened in October at the DAR Museum.
In the National Defense report, read by Mrs. Randolph J. Dixon, stress was put on remembering the Bill of Rights and not tp let apathy continue. >
Mrs. E. Eugene Ryan reported on the Minute Book #1 of the late 1790’s and early 1800’s kept in the office of the Clerk of the Culpeper Circuit Court. It is falling apart and as there is a microfilm in the State Archives of the book, it can be recreated. The Chapter voted to pay the $315 needed to recreate it.
Flag Day was June 14 and some Chapter members went to the Maguire Veterans Hospital in Richmond to recognized and visit with the veteran-patients there. Also they took with them heart pillows to be used by those recovering from heart surgery.
Mrs. Dale Metzinger reminded members of the District VI Workshop to be held at the Holiday Inn in Culpeper on August 15.
