The request for lights in the high school parking lot was reduced by nearly $3,000. Jackson District representative Ron Frazier said the request was too high and no one had taken him up on his offer to assist the school system in drawing up plans to get the work done for less. Mr. Frazier is an electrical contractor.
During the time for public comment Phil Irwin said VDOT’s proposal for work on Route 630 near Huntly was “overkill.” Joy Sloane and Kathleen Maier supported Mr. Irwin’s point of view. The supervisors also had on hand a letter from Don Audette making the same point.
County Administrator John McCarthy said VDOT would prepare a report on comments received at a public meeting on the proposed project and the board would be expected to adopt a resolution on whether or not to go ahead with the project. .
