Surveying To Begin
For 522 Turn Lane
A Virginia Department of Transportation survey team will be doing a location survey at the intersection of U.S. 211 and 522 in Sperry ville beginning the week of July 15. It will take three to four weeks to complete.
The survey will be for the location of a left-turn lane for westbound vehicles turning oft' U.S. 211 onto U.S. 522, according Bob Moore, VDOT Warrenton resident engineer. U.S. 211 will require widening to the north side of the present roadway to make room for the turn lane. The planned construction will not infringe on property on which the Sperryville Emporium is located.
The improvement is in the current six-year plan at an estimated cost of $155,000. Construction could begin late this year or in early 1997.
Construction and opening of a left-tum lane is expected to lessen problems of traffic backing up on U.S. 211 behind vehicles waiting to make left turns at the intersection.
