According to State Trooper Sean Knick who investigated the accident, the driver of the 1977 Ford pickup was Robert William May, 64, of Culpeper. Riding with him in the front seat were Donna K. Keys, 38, and Pamela H. Grigsby, 30, both of Culpeper. Thomas E. Grigsby, 45, also of Culpeper, was riding in the bed of the truck at the time of the crash.
Trooper Knick said that the truck was travelling north on Route 231, 1/4 mile south of Route 621, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, and it skidded off the right side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned.
