one, Albert Gallatin Willis, was hanged from a poplar tree near what is now Willis Chapel Methodist Church in retaliation for the hanging of a Union prisoner. Mr. Willis, a young ministerial student, volunteered to be the one hanged because his companion was married and had children.

Del. Katzen and his companions then followed Route 729 to FUnt Hill, and traveled north on U.S. 522 to Willis Chapel and along Route 635 to the Marriott ranch.

On Saturday they continued in Fauquier County and ended the ridt^ at Sky Meadows State Park, the home place of two of Mosby’s rangers, Abner and Isaac Settle.

They carried with them American, Virginia and Confederate Hags, the Culpeper Minutemen Flag and a replica of the 6th Virginia Cavalry Company B "Rappaha
