In response to a recent letter to the editor, Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Gangel was contacted for information regarding costs of children of non-resident employees who attend the county’s public schools. All answers are based on the 199697 school year.
How much funding would the schools not receive if the non-resident children currently enrolled were not present for the attendance county?
A total of $28,191.93. There are 13 students currently attending the schools who are children of non-resident teachers.
Dr. Gangel said that the school system receives a total of $2,281.74 for each child from state and federal funds; the schools receive no funds from the county for them.
