“From the Blue Ridge to the Bay” is the title for a major focus on water to be held during the month of July in Rappahannock County.
Hunt Harris of the Ragged Mountain Resource Center has organized numerous educational and recreational events to be held in the county during July. He feels it is a good idea to bring the community together to discuss the future potential needs for water in Rappahannock County.
“With the increased need and demands for water quality and quantity in this region, whether it be for building, agricultural purposes or whatever, we have to look at the common sense practical ways of addressing water as a basic resource need for everyone,” said Mr. Harris.
One of the major events of the month will be a panel discussion on Friday, July 11, at the library. County Administrator John McCarthy will be the moderator.
Panel members will be Collin Powers of the Department of Environmental Quality, Jay Gilliam of the Virginia Izaak Walton League (also head of the water quality monitoring programs in Virginia); Chris Miller, president of Piedmont Environmental Council; John Rice, of ENSAT (which did a groundwater study in Spenyville); Kristen Anderson, Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District (the organizer of a Rappahannock River
