That was two years ago. The swallows have returned from the tropics to nest in a particular drain pipe in a handsome stone wall and to swoop in and around the cars and trucks moving north and south on Route 522. As always, I am in awe of the feats of migration. These brown birds spend the winter from southern Mexico to as far south as Argentina.
