She began studying painting with her aesthetic mentor, Vally Possony in 1986. He introduced her to pottery and after his death in 1994, Wagner began to experiment with the idea of “painting” with tiles.

After conducting over 3,000 glaze tests, she has a wall of thousands of small tiles that appear as a veritable rainbow along the room of her studio off Mt. Salem Avenue, and which tell her how to re-achieve a desired effect.
