Gilmore’s proposal is an insult to out intelligence. He must believe that we hate the property tax so much that we will blindly accept his program without considering its downside. Anyone who thinks the people of Virginia are this dumb does not deserve to be their governor.

Our lovely road, Route 621,
is being mangled. This road connects two main arteries, Route 231 and U.S. 211. What was a charmingly curved dirt road lined with Sycamore trees has already been paved at the U.S. 211 end.
As a result, traffic has increased and sauntering along this country road is no longer the pleasure that it was. Now there are plans, not only to pave but, to widen and straighten the road at the U.S. 522 end. This will change the entire character of the road .
I was told some months ago by the VDOT that I alone opposed this change. This week I met a neighbor who had been told the same thing over a year ago. We know !of only four neighbors who want VDOT to proceed.
I understand that 13 of us signed a petition against it. We think most Rappahan-nockers want to preserve the country beauty of our county.
Regrettably some work on Route 621 has already been completed, but more changes are planned. What can we do to stop them? Can you help? Call me at 987-8813.
