Kolya to be shown
The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community (RAAC) will present Academy Award winner, Koyla, on Friday, Oct. 17 at 8 p.m. at The Theatre on Gay Street. Kolya is a sort of a Czech “Kramer vs. Kramer” set in Prague, in 1988-89, at the dawn of the Velvet Revolution. The screenwriter, Zdenek Sverak, also plays the central character, a bachelor cellist who suddenly finds himself responsible for an adorable Russian five year old. The cellist slowly grows out of his selfishness, and his love for this child who doesn’t speak his language points to the new, boundary less world that’s about to open up. (PG, 112 minutes, in Czech).
Potluck dinner scheduled
The Mother’s Coop and children’s play group will host their annual Fall potluck dinner at the Rappahannock Park on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. Families and friends welcome and encouraged. Book Fair scheduled
Rappahannock County Elementary School Library is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 21 and continuing through Monday, Oct. 27. The Book Fair will be open from 8:15 a.m. until 4 p.m. each school day, and open until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23 to coincide with the Parent Teacher Conference.

Healing Arts activities
On Oct. 16, Enjoying Your Stepfamily will be the topic will Bertha Scholten, M.Ed., LPC, NCC.
A workshop, The Sacredness of Touch will be held Saturday, Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. by Sharyn Nicholson and Karen Loving.
Sharyn Nicholson and experienced practitioners will offer short, gentle therapeutic sessions for kids, the first Tuesday of every month from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m.

Beekeepers to meet
