against car tax
I got my semi-annual personal property tax bill in the mail the other day and I immediately thought of Republican gubernatorial nominee Jim Gilmore’s stance that the tax on cars should be abolished.
And I suspect that many thousands of others getting such bills for hundreds of dollars a few weeks before election day might like to see those dreaded twice-a-year bills done away with.
It would be difficult to .accomplish for a variety of reasons, but polls clearly show the car tax is despised by a majority of Virginians and politicians who don’t follow the wishes of the people are sometimes booted out of office.
Beyer has his own plan for tax relief, one he rigged up after being highly critical of the Gilmore proposal. And though Beyer is spending big bucks on TV saying his plan is superior, there are at least some indications he lacks any real commitment to tax relief for Virginians.
