Movie at The Theatre

The movie, The Truce will be shown at The Theatre on Gay Street in Washington on Jan. 15 at 8 p.m. promptly. The life and times of Jewish Italian chemist and writer Primo Levi provide the basis for this biographical drama that depicts the late author’s nine month journey home following his release from the Auschwitz concentration camp. Levi’s long, circuitous trip took him from Poland to Russia, Rumania, Hungary, Austria and Germany before finally reaching his home in Italy. Along the way, the drama focuses on Levi’s rediscovery of life, hope, and dignity, and the simultaneous awakening of a sense of moral outrage previously suppressed by the horror of his daily existence. Actor John Turtorro strikes a perfect balance between despair and laughter in the role of Primo Levi. The movie is rate R and is 116 minutes.
