At the executive session, which lasted for over an hour, the board discussed a counteroffer returned by Aileen Inc. for the abandoned plant in Flint Hill. The $150,000 bid is not increased but is still offered, said Estes. Six-Year Road Plan
Bob Moore presented the board with the six-year road plan, which included 29 road improvements. To give a perspective of the time frame, he said that item number 5, the Castleton Ford Road, was not scheduled for 15 months.
The roads scheduled for improvements prior to April 2000 are Richmond Road, Chester Gap Road, Swindler Hollow Road and Jefferson Road. Massie requested that number 29, Sunnyside Orchard Road, be removed since it was not discussed at the public meetings.
Jeffery Williams, landowner along both sides of Castleton Ford Road, opposed paving it.
“If you can’t get a right-ofway, it is a mute point,” McCarthy said. Williams said he would go along with spot improvements only.
