After discussing the dithculty of separating a meals tax from a lodgings tax, the board decided to apply for special legislation to charge 4 percent for both taxes.

• At the request of Dick McNear, the board asked County Attorney Peter Luke to draw up an agreement with the county and the Virginia Outdoors Association for a scenic easement.

• In trying to clarify the Rappahannock County line at Chester Gap, the board agreed to hold a public meeting there. Now some Warren and Fauquier county residents pay taxes in Rappahannock and send their children to Rappahannock schools, Luke said. The purpose of the public meeting will be to find out which county residents want to belong to.

• Ordinances in other counties that limit telecommunications towers were discussed.

• Richard Abell resigned from the Community Services Board and the board agreed to run an ad to fill the vacancy.

• The board reappointed members on the Local Board of Building Code Appeals: Jon B. Morgan, Peter Kreyling, Bill Anderson, Thomas Tepper and T. G. Taylor.
