CHIEF MAGISTRATE

CHIEF MAGISTRATE Management position available to administer the Magistrate System for the Twentieth Judicial Circuit (Loudoun, Fauquier, Rappahannock Counties). Chief Magistrate will work directly under supervision of the Chief Circuit/District Court Judge and communicate with judges, clerks of court, and local government officials within circuit to assure the accomplishment of magistrate system functions. Position re?|uires

an average of 40 hours per week and ability to travel requently throughout circuit, and residence within circuit. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning or its equivalent and progressively responsible expe-. rience or combination of education and experience, required - which provides high degree of competence in conducting ' neutral and impartial hearings and interviews; ascertaining .■ and evaluating relevant facts; maintaining order and decorum; in highly charged, sensitive and hostile circumstances; read-. ing, applying, and explaining laws and ordinances; conduct*ing research concerning legal questions; appropriately completing legal documents; communicating effectively, orally and in writing with the public and criminal justice community; receiving and accounting for money; managing, directing, training, evaluating staff of independently operating judicial officers; preparing work schedules; preparing budgets; developing, implementing, explaining, and applying policies; assuring delivery of high quality services throughout the district: Working knowledge of (personal computer/typewriter/casn register) legible handwriting and knowledge or court/criminal justice system preferred.
