rvennem oiowik, presents another in his series “Close Looks at Musical Masterworks,” this time with a focus on Johann Sebastian Bach’s Fifth Brandenburg Concerto. Slowik is Artistic Director of the Smithsonian’s Chamber Music Program and the Oberlin Baroque ' Performance Institute, and Conductor of the Santa Fe Bach Festival.
The program begins with a presentation by Slowik explaining the genesis, form, and meaning of thfc Brandenburg Concerti as a set, with special emphasis op the seminal Fifth concerto. '
After the intermission, Slovik and six members of the Smithsonian Chamber Players (including flutist Colin St. Martin, violinist Risa Browder, and cellist John Moran) will perform the Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 in its entirety.
