Mrs. Emma Estes Swindler, 89, of Sperryville , more affectionally known as “Iny”, died on Feb. 28 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Sperryville on March 8, 1909 to the late James A. and Ella Hyde Estes.
Mrs. Swindler ran the oldest and finest seasonal fruit stand in Sperryville. She graced thousands of people with her enthusiasm and sparkling eyes. Her repeat customers were endless over the years. Her children and grandchildren were the “pride” of her life.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Addison Lee and Joan Brown Swindler Jr. qf Hanover, Pa. and James Edward and Phyllis Ann Swindler Sr. of Sperryville; three granddaughters, Barbara Dawn Swindler of Hanover, Pa., Natalie Ann Hathaway and Bobette Swindler, both of Sperryville and two grandsons, Michael Lee Swindler of Carlisle, Pa. and James Edward Swindler II of Sperryville.
Additional survivors include a sister, Margaret Estes Devers of Sperryville; three great-granddaughters, Sara and Emma Hathaway and Hazel Addison Swindler and three great-grandsons, Colton and Trenton Swindler and James Edward Swindler HI.
