Miss Phoebe Green has retired from her position of accountant in the Treasurer’s Office of the College of William and Mary after 23 years. She has moved to her home at Amissville which she had built several years ago in anticipation of this day. Miss Green was bom and reared near Amissville and prior to •going to Williamsburg to her position at the college, she worked at Grayson’s Department Store in Warrenton as a bookkeeper and buyer. Cadet Lawrence Sanford Conners, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emory Conners of Woodville, has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant First Class in the Cadet i Corps of Frederick Military ‘Academy, Portsmouth. Cadet ; Conners is a member of the plains •men rifle and pistol club, wrestling tteam and the Spanish club. ;A Boy Scout Troop has been organized at Chester Gap for boys of that area, and has been assigned as Troop No. 80. The organizational meeting was held last Wednesday evening under the supervision of ,Hubie Gilkey and Floyd Lilly ’with 11 boys attending. Rappahannock’s Bobby Settle has i been named a member of the I District 10 All Star Basketball ;Team. Settle led the Panthers in • scoring, average and free throw per| centage.
