• In fifth grade, students are preparing for book reports on biographies or autobiographies of Revolutionary War or Civil War figures. Since we live in a region filled with such historical significance, the students should have lots of fun with this project.
• Fourth graders are preparing for a field trip to Mount Vernon on March 8. This will be the finale to their study of Colonial America.
• Ms. Saxton’s class recently completed book reports on biographies of famous people. The students then created “bottle sculptures” of their books’ subjects. Come to RCES and check them out.
• Well-known local artist, Merrill Strange, recently visited RCES as part of the Fun Fridays Art Program.
She shared some of her painted tiles with the students, and then helped them as they painted their own. After firing them in the kiln at the studio, they were returned to the students.
• Beth Wellemeyer and Pe&gy Schadler created incredible paper mache fish with Mrs. Vickers’ and Ms. Saxton’s fourth grade classes.
They are displayed beautifully in the fourth grade hall. Stop by and take a look.
