Board member Martin Woodard said that the mixed use of the apartment bothered him, but “If he wanted to change it to a residence, it could happen without anyone knowing. It would be illegal, but no one would know,” said Woodard.
Still, the board unanimously approved the apartment, based solely on the building being used mainly as a nursery. In other business, the board unanimously elected Alex Sharp as chairman, Sid Gottlieb as vice-chairman and Louis Zindel as Rappahannock County Planning Commission representative.
The board adopted a budget of $4,400 for the year 2000. Advertising, at $2,000 was almost half of the budget; $1,000 was set aside for members’ salaries; $800 for travel; and $600 for office supplies.
