assembled that it was “a pleasure and honor to have the Hampton Foundation involved to serve the citizens of Rappahannock County.” Like many fans of local history, Mr. Fletcher had been bothered for years by the lack of a precise county historical map.
A grant from the Foundation finally made it possible to conduct the extensive research needed to prepare the map. Mr. Fletcher remarked after the ceremony that “history is being lost all the time” and that it had been “now or never” to support the map project.
