Sometime last week, possibly before Wednesday, a weekend home on Route 626 in Tiger Valley was broken into. The assailant broke through a window and took several thousand dollars worth of rifles, food, liquor, furniture and other things.
The house is in a secluded area near Mount Salem Church. The Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office is asking that anyone with information, specifically anyone who saw a large van or pickup truck in the vicinity early last week, contact them.
Attempted break-in
The Sheriff’s Office and State Police are treating an incident reported on June 15 as an attempted burglary. The resident went into her basement, and when she came back upstairs it looked like someone had tried to get in.
Deputies and state troopers noticed that the rear double-doors appeared to have pry marks. They believe this incident may have happened the week before, and was just noticed on the 15th.
Suspicious persons
A lady approached a residence on Scrabble Road on June 19 claiming to be from Animal Relief Services. She told the female resident that they were taking her dog because it wasn’t being taken care of. The person left without the dog. Sheriff Larry Sherertz said he is not aware that any such organization exists. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriffs Office.
A resident on Valley View Drive in Chester Gap reported that, on the night of June 13, her 25 year-old daughter was watching television and noticed a car drive by slowly and stop.
