Kick-off assemblies for Headwaters’ summer project, Heart Cries of a Captive People. Just over the horizon The Virginia Commission for the Arts (VCA) has once again approved an Artists-inResidence matching grant proposal submitted by RCES teachers Harriette Rosenblatt (art), Joy Rollins (music), and community artist Sharon Wyrrick (dance/drama). Also under discussion are a return engagement of Shenandoah Shakespeare Express, one or more cooperative projects with the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community namson noeaown, tne iveter Betts Jazz Trio concert and this year’s presentation of Macbeth by Shenandoah Shakespeare Express. In the future we hope to continue working with school and community groups to expand the scope of cooperative projects. To date, Rappahannock schools have typically hosted a VCA residency in just one school at a time. It remains a CEP goal to expand valuable, readily-available means of integrating arts into the core curriculum.
