He noted that this is not strip development, no public utilities will be needed, and that traffic won’t be impeded, apiong other things. Reynolds commented that Ms. Harris has “downgraded in size and upgraded in quality...This fits precisely what the county is looking for.”
Reynolds also said that they will do nothing without Department of Health Approval. Greg Huntsacher, Ms. Harris’ architect, added that they are making efforts not to affect the watershed and drainage.
A few individuals spoke in favor of the new proposal. They included Mrs. Virginia Cloud and James Russell, who is the former owner of the property. Russell implored the commission to “give Ms. Harris a chance.”
A number of individuals spoke in opposition. Among them were Joy Sloane, Ronnie Dodson, Lindy Atkins, speaking on behalf of his father, who owns property nearby and Ron Napier representing Barbara Adolfi, who couldn’t be at the meeting.
Their concerns included water usage, privacy concerns, traffic, noise, trash, future use of the property, and whether 36 acres is too small for what Ms. Harris is proposing. There were also safety concerns, as some people nearby hunt.
