The commission voted unanimously to forward a request by Nancy Dillon to the Board of Zoning Appeals for approval. Ms. Dillon has asked for a special use permit to convert part of a small garage on her property into an efficiency apartment. Her residence is on Fodderstack Road.
• Mark Malik presented a map ot the conservation zones in Rappahannock County to the commission. Approximately 39,000 acres in the county are zoned “conservation.” Of that, about 11,000 is above 25 percent sloped. The rest is between 14 and 25 percent. VDOT requires an 18 percent grade limit for access roads.
• There were brief discussions regarding House Bill 2324 and commercial area within the county. In regards to bill 2324, Bob Dennis commented that the county will need to be creative in what it does. Commission Chair Dr. Werner Krebser, Ron Frazier and Zindel will work together to come up with some ideas.
The commission will work on possible directions for the future development of commercial areas. One village will be dealt with at a time.
• Krebser informed the commission that they are requested to attend a work session on the telecommunications ordinance, scheduled for July 7 at 8 p.m.
The next Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for July 21.
