The Senator arrives an hour ahead of time at the Rappahannock Library, and is greeted by a small gaggle of supporters. Before the parade Lee Bird, Meredith Gorfein Bill Tieckelman, Linda Dietel and other supporters get a chance to chat with Chuck Robb. Several express concern over health care costs. The Senator seizes the opportunity to do a little campaigning and talk up a bill he is sponsoring.
Robb agrees that health care is a big concern for many Virginians and points out that prescription drugs are growing more and more expensive for the elderly.
The Senator describes a bill he is sponsoring with bipartisan help. If passed and signed into law, the billthe Medicare Outpatient Drug Act, would modify Medicare so that it provides prescription drug benefits, for a monthly fee of around $40. "This would help a lot of people, more than 700,000 in Virginia, and its simple and fiscally responsible, maybe something we can all agree on" Robb said.
After the politicking, ‘preparations for the parade began. Apparently some slots in the lineup are not filled, so everyone has to move up a ways.
