Virginia Extension Homemakers Council to the state for the Bicentennial. Robert L. (Jock) Brown of Woodville submitted his resignation as vice president of the Rappahannock Home Mutual Fire Insurance Company when this group met Monday. He said reasons of health made this necessary and his resignation is effective July 14. He has been a director and vice president of the company for over 25 years. The Rappahannock Retired Teachers' Association held a luncheon meeting Friday, July 11 at the home of Mrs. Frances Lyne near Washington. This was a special meeting in honor of Miss Elsie Dodson, who retired from the Rappahannock Public School System and of Mrs. Pauline Bruce who retired from the Fauquier County System.

The Virginia Commission for the Arts awarded three grants to county groups to fund artistic projects in Rappahannock. The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community received a $1733 salary assistance grant for an administrative assistant. The Rappahannock County Elementary School received two grants, one for $1200 and the other for $1011 for an artist-in-residence program to teach visual arts and crafts. The Conyers House in Slate Mills will sponsor an innkeeping seminar for aspiring and working innkeepers and bed and breakfast proprietors. The course will be led by Sandra Cartwright-Brown, who has taught • 14 such workshops since 1987. The RCHS delegation to TSA's national convention this year was Tucker Rogers, Philip Smiley, Joey Dunagan, Bryan Clark, Liz Oliver and Jeremy Tole.
