Swiss Chalet Village on Route 211, three miles from Sperryville, was bought by Harry A. Shockley at an auction sale Friday, July 7 for the high bid of $19,000. W. Arthur Miller showed four colts at the Show of Breeding Stock at Warrenton Horse Show grounds Saturday, July 8. The suckling colt took second place in its class, while the yearling colt placed fourth. Suggested improvements for the Town of Washington are being considered by the Council-elect for execution during their administration commencing Sept. 7, 1950. First: Securing facilities for a Community Center to promote youth and adult self improvement and recreation and to fulfill the needs and requirements of visitors who will be encouraged to visit the town. Second: If possible, the town should own and operate for its own use and profit the Town Water System. Third: Proper care of and beautification of streets including town property and alleys and where necessary and possible sidewalks to be constructed. The encouragement of individual owners to exercise civic pride in the improvement of their property and removal of unsightly buildings.

Rappahannock County Extension Homemakers Club members have been busy since mid-March working on a needlepoint design. Each county and city in the state has been asked to design a needlepoint square 12 inches by 12 inches of historic or geographic significance to their county or city.
