I guess the kid comes out in all of us at this time of the year. There is so much to do and yet, everybody is in such a pleasant mood. I often wonder, why can't it be like this all year. It could be if we put Christ back into Christmas.

I had such a wonderful childhood, and I can remember all the things we did as a family. We didn't have much extra money, so we made gifts for each other. And the projects we worked on were such a big secret.

We saved the wrapping paper from the year before, and we found out if you ironed the paper it would look like new. Now, remember we didn't have electricity yet, so we had to heat the old flat irons on the wood stove, and when they were hot you would iron the wrinkles out. We were taught how to recycle long before there were recycling.

To find the right Christmas tree was left up to us. Daddy was to busy with all the chores that had to be done on the farm to go look for a tree. He would always cut it off from the bottom and nail it to cross boards and put it up for us.
