Sophomore Gregg Jackson led the Rapp JV with nine points and John Letsen, along with Tony Starks, each added six points. JV Coach Mike Atkins said, "They were pretty excited when we took the court and we made a lot of mistakes because of that. We ll be better next time."
The Junior Panthers (eighth grade) boys team traveled to Fauquier County and faced the T.C. Taylor Middle School team for the season opener. They lost 53-14 in a game that showed the difference that exist in larger schools with established programs and our new effort to get back in the game. Both Coach Michael Leake and Gary Settle believe we'll grow a lot this year and the future looks good for this group of youngsters.
Their goal remains to "let the boys feel the excitement that comes with a win." However they both admit, "We ll have to work real hard to give ourselves that opportunity."
