Sperryville Gateway Project, partially funded through the U. S. Department of Transportation's transport®* tion enhancement program, Mr. Gannon recounted that John McCarthy said that the Sperryville Gateway Project discussion, in June of 1999, drew the ' biggest crowd in the Courthouse in favor of something," and Mr. Gannon expressed his frustration at the apparent lack of progress;,' especially in light of broad pro*; ject support.
Mr. McCarthy said that he knew some of the answers, but suggested that the best way of disseminating that informal tion would be to present a; comprehensive report at next month's Board of Supervisors meeting. Mr. McCarthy did; say that he expected that the project would not be complete ed for a year and a half to two* years, and Mr. Estes attributed some of the delays, espe*.’ dally in the drainage work, t<jr the process required to incor* porate work into VDOT's plans.
Mr. McCarthy also discussed the proposal beingi developed by the Amissvilla; Area Community Association; (AACA) for transportation' enhancement funding for a> project entitled "Amissville Walking Trail and Historic. Recognition." He said that tha, proposal is due on Jan. 31 and that there is no time for a public hearing before the dud; date. He asked that the Board; of Supervisors agree to a' February public hearing, and they reached consensus on holding a public hearing on the project at the February Board of Supervisors meeting.
