Now that the tax is listed separately, base rates have been lowered. While the method for calculating utility taxes has changed, the amount of tax that most customers pay each month on their electric bill should remain approximately the same.

A residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity a month will see a Consumption Tax of $1.55. Taxes will vary depending on the amount of electricity consumed each month.
