The Virginia General Assembly begins it 2001
session today, January 10. Our legislators have
a lot to accomplish over the next 45 days.
They will be working on a slate of bills carried over from the 2000 session, a crop of new bills, proclamations recognizing the lives and accomplishments of their constituents, and more.
For people with Internet access, keeping tabs on what's going on during the General Assembly this year will be easier than ever. Complete information about the bills in the system, how our representatives voted and what committees and sub-committees they are serving on is available at the Virginia General Assembly Web site, http:/ /legis.state.ua.us.
Many issues of statewide importance will be debated during the upcoming session, and there are issues that will have a direct impact on Rappahannock County — like the proposal to ban tractor-trailers on a portion of U.S. 17 in northern Fauquier County that will certainly dump additional truck traffic on Rt. 522.
