Alexander T. Hart has pleaded guilty in Rappahannock County Juvenile And Domestic Relations Court to charges of petty larceny and felony destruction of property in connection with the vandalism eight months ago of the historic Montpelier mansion here in the county.
The 18-year-old, who goes by "Xander” and was 17 at the time he allegedly committed the offenses in May, wore a black suit as he stood in the courtroom last Thursday answering, "Yes, Sir," to a series of questions from the judge. The substitute juvenile court judge that day was attorney Douglas Baumgardner.
Hart's mother, Lindy, sat by herself in the front row as she watched the proceedings.
Hart's sentencing has been set for April 12, following a pre-sentence report from the juvenile probation office which will take eight to 10 weeks to complete, according to a probation officer.
While Judge Baumgardner allowed Hart to remain free on $35,000 bond, he placed him on juvenile probation pending sentencing.
