Manassas Park for a make-up volleyball game that had previously been canceled due to winter weather. It was a real heartbreaker, as the Rapp Varsity squad lost the match two games to one in a thrilling finale where both teams refused to lose.
The Lady Panthers spotted the Lady Cougars a one-game lead, losing the opener 15-9. The turned the tables in the second game and won it 15-8, setting up the third and deciding contest. Both teams scrapped hard to get to the winning score of 15, but couldn't muster the 2-point advantage necessary to win. The game went back and forth with both teams having the advantage and then losing it. The Lady Panthers finally succumbed and lost a terrific game 18-16.
The JV Panthers could only cheer on their older teammates, as they had done their job earlier, beating the Lady Cougars two games to none, 15-8 and 15-13.
On Wednesday Jan. 24, the girls were back on the road. This time, they headed south to Madison County High School and the final game of the home and away series with the Lady Mountaineers. The Madison girls had made short work of the Lady Panthers here on Dec. 15, winning two quick games 15-2 and 15-6. This time, the Rapp squad surprised the Madison girls and destroyed them 15-6 in the opener. The Madison girls buckled down, however, and won the next two games and the match 2-1. The JV Lady Panthers couldn’t sustain their efforts and lost their match to the Madison JV squad two games to none, 15-8 and 15-9.
Make-ups and rescheduled games forced a third game of the week for the Lady Panthers, but at least this was at home. On Saturday, Jan. 27, the District-leading Lady Eagles from Clarke County came to the RCHS gym for their final game in the twogame series. Undefeated, the Clarke County squad had their hands full as the Lady Panthers played two very good games.
The Lady Eagles showed why they were undefeated, as they committed very few mistakes. Service errors continued to plague the Rapp girls, as they lost two games to none, 15-11 and 15-12. The Junior Varsity Lady Panthers
