When we got to the William Bowen and later his son, Charlie Bowen's place, we took the time to go to the family cemetery. Wayne Baldwin had taken parchment paper and a brush and showed the boys how to copy the writing on the tombstone. This helps when you are unable to read the inscription on the stone. The Boy Scouts were busy counting the grave stones and wanting to know how they got the stones there.
We had only one incident, as it was a lot of boys to cross three creeks without any bridges. The water wasn't very high, but it was cold. We had to step on rocks to get across. A slippery rock caused one of the boys to slip and get his foot and his pants wet. As you know the Boy Scout motto is "Be Prepared" and that is exactly what they were.
