Also, in Austria Ms. Welk will witness one of the most disturbing results of World War II, a concentration camp through the eyes of a Holocaust survivor.
In Italy, she will explore the Colosseum, the Catacombs, and the Roman Forum. She will also visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa, enjoy a briefing from a Vatican official during a visit to the Sistine Chapel, and visit St. Peter's Cathedral in Vatican City.
In Switzerland she will gain insights into the Swiss role in world finance, global disaster relief and political neutrality of Europe's oldest continuous democracy.
Betsy Welk is a member of the National Honor Society, the Environmental Club, the Lady Panthers basketball team, and a former member of the Rappahannock High School band. In order to participate as a student ambassador, she will have to raise $5000.
