• RCHS Parents may be interested to know that there is a new policy for guests at school sponsored dances. The school must know about guests no later than the Thursday afternoon before the dance. Guests must have either a school ID or a driver s license.
Each student may bring only one guest unless there is prior approval from the principal. Students must sign up with the School Resource Officer, Captain Brown, to bring a guest.
All guests are subject to school policy and state law. Guests must enter with the RCHS student who invited them. If you have questions, call the school at 987-8575.
• Warm up those vocal chords and instruments! It's time once again for the Bland Music Competition. Sponsored each year by the Rappahannock Lions Club talented young people from our county have an opportunity to compete in the areas of vocal or instrumental performance. Many RCPS students have been quite successful in the past! This year's event will be held on Feb. 25, at 2 p.m. at The Theatre in Washington. Winners of the local competition may advance to the state level where they may compete for scholarships of up to $2,000. If you have questions, please contact Mr. Dave Gillis at 987-8096.
• Schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 1 and 2, for Division wide Staff Training. We are looking forward to welcoming Mrs. Kathy Kennedy to our system to train our staff in the areas of Multiple Intelligences and Cooperative Learning Strategies.
