Rappahannock Association for Arts and the Community is proud to present Alex Shafran playing the alto saxophone at ■7:45 p.m. as pre-film entertainment before the film, Almost Famous at The Theatre at Washington on Friday, Feb. 2.
Alex is a fifth grade student at Wakefield Country Day School. He is ten years pld.
For his 11th birthday, which will be later in February, Alex's parents, Kim and Tom Shafran, gave him an early birthday gift of a soprano saxophone.
Alex, who has received -rave reviews from those who !have heard him perform at yarious events in the county such as birthday parties and his church and school Christmas pageants, has played the saxophone since .last July.
He is self-taught and also has taken informal lessons from Dana Ferreira, a senior at Wakefield Country Day School. . Alex, who taught himself to read music, plays both jazz •and classical pieces. Alex lives
