surely Rappahannock’s most enduring volunteer and her volunteer efforts are still going strong!
Student Advisory Council members joined cheerleaders in greeting volunteers and passing out programs and Olympic-style “medals” (designed by RCES Art students) to each of them. RCES Art teacher Mrs. Harriette Rosenblatt sponsored a contest in her Art classes to find the best design for our “medals” and the program cover.
Students Rocky Pullen and J.R. Hawkins, and Laura Wheatley and Angela Bigelow designed the wanning pieces. Other students involved in this project who also helped to design posters and banners were: Katie Long, Kelly Padilla, Lisa Donahue, Megan Smith, Katrina Bigelow. Emma DoddHenze, Alicia Smith, Molly McCarthy, Elvira Yarez, Ashley Priest, Kyle Settle, Cynthia Ibarra, Rashad Alexander, Mandy Smoot, and Amber Long.
RCES Aide Joanne Berta was instrumental in the completion of the medals. Hazel ZinnDay, County 4-H Technician, served as photographer for the event. Ellen Neill-Dore, Executive Director of Starfish Mentors, worked with the cheerleaders and helped greet all of the volunteers as they arrived.
