County Invitational.
Hop, step, jump are the three phases of the triple jump. Girls and hoys are mastering the technique to get places The Nawrocki sisters, Jessica and Mattie are usually in the scoring.
High Jumping this year is freshman Anna Kreyling who last year participated as JY and was beating varsity opponents. This year she has succeeded in clearing 4T1” at Bull Run Regional Standard. Ruth Oyster is jumping 4'4” enough to place in dual meets. Boy high jumpers include Nathan Welch and Jason Gainer jumping around 5’4" and grabbing a place at some meets.
Throwing events are improving for the boys with Johnathan Deal, D.J. Frye and Johnny Wines. Jessica Nawrocki is consistent in placing in the discus and shot, getting 2nd and 6th place medals in the Wrangler Invitational at Lurav this past weekend. Amanda Weakley also has a good chance at Districts in the discus.
Mattie Nawrocki has to face 10 hurdles on the way to the finish line in the 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles. With continuing work on form and steps she may be a state contender this year. She ran to 3rd place medals in both invitational and has beaten district competition at the regular meets.
Several boys have tried the hurdles leaving the challenge to Jason Gainer and Nathan Welch.
