U-12 results
The U-12 “Purple People Eaters" took to the RCHS pitch on Saturday to face Culpeper. The Culpeper squad had a few strong-legged girls and took advantage early with a high, slicing shot from outside the penalty box arching over Rapp keeper Megan Wheatley’s reach. Megan stopped eight shots in the first half with Samantha Falls, Stevie Ross and Stephanie Bridgeman providing defensive support. “Purple People Eater” Jordan Lysaght just missed evening the score when her shot went just wide of the Culpeper goal post.
Culpeper’s second goal of the half was provided by an unlucky Rapp “own goal”, when a “Purple People Eater” player deflected a Culpeper cross into their own goal. The Rapp girls played well, but struggling offensively, they found themselves with a two-goal deficit when the first half whistle blew.
The second half began much like the first, when Culpeper scored again on a long shot from outside the penalty box. After a brief delay to untangle the Rapp goalie's ponytail from the net (she tangled it retrieving the ball), the rest of the second half seemed to be played in the “Purple People Eaters” defensive end of the field.
Rapp keepers Kara Corbin and Emma Hathaway stopped five more Culpeper shots, hut playing defensive for most of the second half took it’s toll as Culpeper scored a quick fourth and fifth goal just before the end of the game. Next week the girls play at home against Madison.
