During the public comment portion of the meeting, town resident Gary Schwartz asked the council if it had an estimate of the impact in time of investigating the Clopton site as an alternative to Avon Hall for the wastewater treatment system.
Mayor Leggett responded that the wastewater treatment system would be operational in an estimated two years and that he thought that “a month or so” would be lost by assessing the Clopton property.
Lynch, during public comments, expressed his satisfaction that “after all the years of sitting up here, finally everyone agrees (on a wastewater treatment system).”
Resident Susan Longyear, however, commented that she “still thinks it’s not the government’s place to take care of individual’s problems.”
• Benson noted that there are still two council members (he and Jean Goodine) sitting on the Planning Commission (only one is permitted) and he suggested that he remain and Mrs. Goodine resign.
The council declined to take action at its April meeting, but agreed to advertise the impending Planning Commission vacancy and deal with the issue at its May meeting.
