Indicative of the anti-tax, anti-government views of one wing of the GOP is the challenge being made by Mike Rothfeld to Republican Senator John Chichester, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, in a June primary.
Rothfeld is critical of Chichester for his leading role in the 2001 fight with Gov. Jim Gilmore to delay further implementation of the car tax repeal, and accuses Chichester of being soft on such fiscal matters as tax reduction.
